Mr. Trimble has 30 years of experience acquiring and operating over $8 billion of oil and gas assets. He was Vice Chairman of Merit Energy Company prior to founding FDL, playing an essential role in the company’s growth for over 20 years. Prior to working at Merit, he held various positions at Graham Resources, Inc. and Amoco Production Company. He graduated with an ME in Petroleum Engineering in 1986 and a BS in Petroleum Geology from Louisiana State University in 1984.

Jake Plunk

Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Plunk has over 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and is currently responsible for overseeing production operations and strategic planning at FDL. He previously held the roles of Vice President of Investor Relations and Vice President of Business Development at Merit Energy Company, playing an integral role in over $6 billion of acquisitions. He graduated with an BS in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University in 1995. He is a member of Texas Tech’s Petroleum Engineering Academy and Industry Advisory Board.

Jim Mayfield

Jim Mayfield

Chief Financial Officer & Chief Compliance Officer

Mr. Mayfield has over 15 years of experience in upstream oil and gas accounting and finance. He was previously a Director of Finance, Tax, and Accounting at Kohlberg, Kravis, Roberts & Co. (“KKR”) primarily focused on their oil and gas real assets strategies, where he participated in and managed over $4 billion in acquisitions and structured development joint ventures. He was a member of KKR’s Energy and Infrastructure Valuation Committee and worked in partnership with Fleur de Lis while at KKR. He holds a Masters of Accounting and a BBA-Accounting from Millsaps College, and is a Texas licensed CPA.

Mr. Mase has over 30 years of oil and gas experience in all phases of acquisitions and divestitures for E&P companies. He played an essential role in the development of Priam Energy, Tide West Oil, and Draco Gas Partners. He graduated with a BBA in Business Administration from the University of Texas in 1976 and began working as a Landman in the oil and gas business after college.

He was previously at Juno Energy, where he managed their mid-continent assets, capital development program and operations. He graduated with a BS in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University in 2005.

Robby F. Rockey

Robby F. Rockey

Mr. Rockey has over 10 years of experience sourcing and evaluating potential acquisition opportunities, evaluating marketed and unsolicited transactions from $500K-$1B in every major North American oil and gas basin. He previously served as Business Development Manager of Urban Oil & Gas Group, L.L.C., evaluating over 100 transactions and playing an integral role in the investment of the company’s first two funds. He graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 2005 and an MS in Finance from the University of Texas-Dallas in 2010. Mr. Rockey is a member of the University of Wyoming’s EORI Technical Advisory Board.

R. Blake Ramsey

Mr. Ramsey has over 8 years of experience working in oil and gas finance, with a particular focus on oil and gas acquisitions. He was previously with Primexx Energy Partners, where he was instrumental in the asset pricing and capital raising activities of the company, including both debt and equity. Prior to Primexx, Mr. Ramsey began his career at Wells Fargo in Houston. He graduated magna cum laude with a BBA in Finance from Texas Tech University in 2008.

Joe Nicholas

Joe Nicholas

VP of Operations

Mr. Nicholas has over 15 years of oil and gas experience, focused in both operations and research and development.  Mr. Nicholas was responsible for onboarding and managing FDL’s Wyoming assets following the acquisition of Anadarko’s CO2 floods in 2015.  He played an instrumental role in significantly reducing the asset’s operating cost structure, rightsizing CO2 purchase and capital spend, and optimizing production decline.  Prior to FDL, Mr. Nicholas held operations and business development roles with ConocoPhillips, Merit Energy, and Nerd Gas Company.

Mr. Nicholas graduated with a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wyoming in 2002 and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in 2008.  Mr. Nicholas is a registered Professional Engineer.

Laura Garner

Director of Investor Relations

Laura joined FDL in 2018 and brings over 30 years of investor relations and marketing experience to the firm.  Most recently, she was a founding partner at SailingStone Capital Partners, a natural resources focused investment firm, where she was responsible for developing and managing institutional investor relationships which represented over $5 billion of invested capital.

Previously she held senior positions as Principal and Head of Business Development for Foundations, Endowments, and Family Offices at RS Investments, Global Marketing Director at Citi Alternative Investments and Merrill Lynch Debt Markets, US Marketing Director at Goldman Sachs Investment Management and Strategic Planning, and Analysis Director at Chase Manhattan.  Laura holds a BA from the University of Virginia, an MBA from the Anderson School at UCLA and is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst.
